Ⅳ.Understanding UPS Tracking Statuses

UPS uses several tracking status labels to show the progress of a package. Here are some common statuses and their meanings:

ⅰ.Label Created

This means that we received the sender's shipment and billing info. UPS has not yet picked up the package. The status will update once they do, and it begins to move through their network.

ⅱ.Shipped/On the Way

The courier picked up the package, and it is currently in transit within the UPS system. It has a delivery date. The delivery of the package may not occur until that status changes. For long-distance shipping, the system may not scan it again until it reaches its delivery hub.

ⅲ.Out for Delivery

Packages are then received at the local UPS facility and sent to a driver for final delivery. Delivery is usually between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. (sometimes later) for homes. It's before the close of business for businesses. This is unless a time-limited air freight service has been selected.

ⅳ.Delivered

The package will arrive at the destination. It will update the express delivery time. If there is no signature, the delivery personnel will place the package in a safe area. If the package has been in the UPS access point, it means it has arrived at the designated location. The recipient must go there to pick up the package.

ⅴ.Transferred to Post Office for Delivery

The sender requests that the package be sent to a local post office for final delivery. This usually happens with P.O. Box addresses. It also occurs when UPS partners with a post office for last-mile delivery (e.g., UPS SurePost or UPS Mail Innovations). Please wait a day or two for final shipping.

ⅵ.Exception

This condition refers to an unforeseen issue that may delay delivery. The exact cause of the exception will be in the Shipment Progress section of the Tracking Details page. If the shipping date changes, we will update the tracking status to reflect the new date.
