How to ship lithium batteries safely?

1. Before transporting lithium battery products, it is essential to understand international regulations on the transportation of lithium batteries, including requirements for air, sea, and land transportation.

2. Once the battery type is confirmed, such as lithium-ion batteries, polymer batteries, lead-acid batteries, etc., different regulations apply to each type during transportation.

3.After confirming the classification, label lithium battery packaging with voltage, capacity and power information. Determine packaging requirements in accordance with these details, ensuring that internationally standardised packaging materials are used and that the batteries are properly segregated and protected.

4.Lithium battery packaging is stringent; internal packaging must ensure individual battery isolation, prevent shaking, and insulate terminals for batteries with leads. External packaging should be sufficiently sturdy to prevent breakage during transportation.

5. There are weight restrictions on individual battery packaging to ensure that the goods are not too heavy and to reduce risks.

6. Lithium batteries should not be mixed with other goods in a single shipment.

7. Avoid exposing lithium batteries to prolonged sunlight or high temperatures.

8. Train company personnel to ensure they are well-versed in the new regulations regarding the transportation of lithium batteries and can handle emergency situations.

9.Choose a qualified freight forwarder to ensure compliance with transportation regulations throughout the process, ensuring the safe transport of batteries.
