The process starts with the shipper or logistics provider reserving space on the train for the cargo. Prepare and submit necessary documents, including Booking, PI, CI and other documents.
2. Goods collection:
Goods are collected from the shipper's location or origin and transported to a rail terminal or warehouse.
3. Cargo loading and unloading at the dock:
At the rail terminal, the goods are inspected, weighed and prepared for loading onto the train. Shipments may be combined with other shipments, particularly less than container load (LCL) shipments.
4. Loading and fixing:
Depending on the nature of the cargo, the cargo is loaded into rail containers or directly onto rail cars. It is vital that cargo is adequately secured and blocked to prevent movement during transport.
5. Customs declaration:
Customs authorities review and clear export goods to ensure compliance with international trade regulations. Pay applicable duties, taxes and duties and obtain any necessary permits or licenses.
6. Transport and rail journeys:
The fully loaded train departs from the originating station and embarks on the journey to the destination. During transportation, the safety of the cargo is monitored and real-time tracking systems provide visibility into its location.
7. Intermodal transport or multimodal transport:
In some cases, cargo may be intermodal or intermodal, which moves the cargo from a train to another mode of transportation, such as a ship, truck, or aircraft, depending on the final destination.
8. Unloading and loading at the destination port:

Goods are transported from the destination rail terminal to the final delivery point. This may involve road transport as well as last-mile logistics providers.
11. Delivery and unpacking:
The goods are transported to the consignee's location or final destination. Unpack and unload it and complete any further processing or distribution as needed.
12.Reporting and Documentation:
All relevant documentation is updated and reported to the appropriate authorities, including customs agencies and shipping companies.
